The rapid development of web technologies and social networks, has created a huge volume of reviews on products and services, and opinions on events and individuals. Opinions are an important part of human activity because they affect our behavior in decision-making. Sentiment Analysis or Opinion Mining is the field of study that analyzes people’s opinions, sentiments, and evaluations towards entities and their properties. More specifically, is the extraction and analysis process of subjective information from textual sources. This document is a detailed reference to the object and the usual techniques of opinion mining and analysis. It presents the three basic levels of analysis, document, sentence and aspect level, and it also examines relevant processes such as the creation of a sentiment lexicon, the detection of opinion spamming, the search and retrieval of opinions, and the summarization of opinions. Furthermore, it is studied the problem of entity ranking using opinions expressed in users' reviews, for which are being proposed new approach techniques, and conducted experiments to evaluate their performance.
